IL Coalition of Community Blood Centers HonorS ERIC PHILLIPS WITH MOST INNOVATIVE AWARD
The winner of the 2019 Most Innovative Blood Drive Coordinator Award is Eric Phillips from the University of Illinois at Chicago Athletic Department. Eric had had a vision of doing the biggest drive humanly possible and he succeeded! After months of logistical planning and a heavily marketing campaign, Eric’s drive held at the U of I Pavilion, resulted in a record number of 759 blood donations which helped save 2,277 lives. This is a highest number of units collected in a single day blood drive in Chicago history. Eric was nominated by Vitalant and was also honored with a House Resolution introduced by House Minority Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) as well as a Senate Congratulatory Certificate from State Senator John Curran (R-Woodridge).
